We enjoy summer, yes we do. We enjoy summer; how about you?
There was a sky full of sunshine, plenty of crawdads and minnows to catch, and a free afternoon. So
we spent a few hours with our friends playing in the creek by our house.
Isaiah 40:6,8 "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever."

A fancy day
The girls and I were invited to a fancy day at a friend's house. We dressed up, ate bread and jam, and enjoyed some tea. It was a great time to do something a little different.

A Beautiful Day
We woke to a gorgeous day just beckoning us to enjoy its beauty.
Our excited start, right before we had to change direction to locate the trail head. |
I was told this leaning log wasn't too comfy. |
Yes Arizona dwellers, I get to live in this amazing greenery. |

We are clean!!!!
At least our criminal records!! We have been waiting for our criminal background checks from the FBI to come through since April. We got them today and we will be sending them off to the State Department tomorrow to get them legalized. Another step closer.
On another positive note... we all had appointments to get our meningitis vaccinations tomorrow. As I was reading through the Paraguay handbook this afternoon I realized, Hey! we don't need meningitis vaccinations!

The most delicious crown ever!!!!!!
On Thursday were were invited to speak to the VBS at Fellowship Baptist Church about being missionaries. Afterwards they let the kids take part in the craft/snack. Yes, craft/snack. They were making crowns. This was made out of a doughnut, skittles, m&ms, and gummi bears. Best invention ever.

Another Birthday
We celebrated Samuel's birthday a little early this year. He had his friends over for a Nerf war. As you can see there were plenty of guns. I think there were 4 or 5 guns per person.

Hot Dogs and Smores
Last night we had some friends over and we cooked some health food over the fire. We made Smores with the biggest marshmallows I have ever seen.

Mother and Daughter Getaway
Rebekah and I had the opportunity this past week to go on an overnight adventure. We began the day with a little horseback riding.
This is Rebekah warming up for the ride. |
This was a tricky picture to take since my horse was more interested in the water bucket than posing for a picture. |
Do you see the natural rider in her? She loves horses and one day I know she'll have one. |
After horseback riding, we rested and read Nancy Drew. The "Bungalow Mystery" was still as good as I remembered it from when I was a girl. (Thank-you Sandy, for giving us the book.)
After several chapters and recovering from the hour horseback ride, we treated ourselves to Golden Corral. It is buffet style and we enjoyed the variety. Of course dessert was always the best. Rebekah discovered that putting gummy bears on her ice cream made them very difficult to chew.
We finished Nancy Drew that night and headed home the next morning, after laying around in bed for awhile, of course.
What a great time I had with my oldest daughter. She's awesome!
